Bertha L. Wurdeman, 96, was born February 19, 1904 to Fred and Elizabeth (Harnapp) Sander in rural Creston, Nebraska. She was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Leigh, Nebraska. On March 17, 1918 she reaffirmed her Christian faith through confirmation at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Bertha attended grade school and graduated from high school in Creston, Nebraska.?
She then attended the Lincoln Normal School for Teachers and taught in several rural school districts in the Creston Nebraska area. On April 9, 1926, Bertha married Adolf Wurdeman at Christ Lutheran Church in rural Columbus, NE. Together they farmed in the Christ Lutheran area.
Bertha was an avid gardener and a master quilter. She enjoyed braiding rugs and crocheting. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where she was active in Lutheran Women's Missionary League, the Ladies Aid and the church quilting group.
