Sinking of the SS Leopoldville
On Christmas Eve, 1944, the SS Leopoldville loaded with troops from the 66th Division heads to France to participate in the infamous Battle of the Bulge. As the ship crossed the channel it was torpedoed by a German submarine, killing hundreds of army soldiers.
